career path questions...

when i was a little girl, i showed a passion, and hopefully talent, for visual arts. i took these inherent, built in factors, and cultivated them into a career. to my understanding, this is what people do. they take their god given talents, add some hard work and dedication, and create a working life for themselves.

so i am confused.

tonight, while journeying back to northern manhattan and snail-like speeds in may showers that i suppose are bringing june flowers,  i pondered a question that begs many of us that live in new york, or other metropolitan areas where owning cars are not the norm:

why is it that the worst possible drivers in the world inevitably become cabbies?

it doesn't make any sense to me. its not just foreigners. its not just careless men. its purposely bad drivers who think that the rpm needle is supposed to dance around the dial  and that the gas and the break pedals are in fact just a well masked video arcade game where you mimic the dance movements till your hot and sweaty and absolutely no tickets are dispensed.

i beseech you, does anyone have an answer?

discuss amongst  yourselves...

nothing says mother's day...

like spending some qt alone.

I have been so swamped these days that i have not been "traveling" or really shooting for myself. On the train ride home today after a few hours of laborious work editing photos of America's favorite past time, I chose to take a few subway shots. This led to a man asking if I was a film student, so it was all worth it...

UC launch

The UC had their official launch last night at the Locksmith Winebar on B'way and 192 and, despite the fact that i was very late to the party, the place was still packed and merriment seemed to be had by all. A dynamic project such as this requires dynamic promos; therefore, a series of postcards featuring uptown photography were released and below is the one shot by yours truly.

I am really excited about being a part of this and last night made me realize what great company I am in.

help haiti

Many may say that polaroid is dead. Many may say that polaroid is not suited for event photography. And to all you naysayers, I say beso mis nalgas. This past week a very dear friend of mine, some might even call her my husband, held an event at a local watering hole to fundraise for haiti as well as show off her amazing, newly honed design skills with her t-shirt, which you can still purchase at seepretty.blogspot.com. I offered to shoot her event and the storyboard you see below are the results...
